Gangland eradication scheme on track for Games

Well, it looks like the Gangland Figure Eradication Scheme put in place to tidy up Melbourne's streets in time for the Commonwealth Games is working well, with 'Braaaaten's' shiftiest resident, Mario Condello, biting the big one yesterday.

During the time I lived in Melbourne there were so many gangland killings that you had to be careful not to trip over a body as you sauntered down Lygon Street in search of a coffee fix.

Now, killing is a bad thing and I'm not making light of this situation - well, possibly I am - but these blokes really are like a bad episode of The Sopranos - a show that I'm told is a fave in Aussie gangster circles. Indeed, these guys are like an episode of The Sopranos directed by Ron Howard back when he was still playing second fiddle to The Fonz.

Good job we don't have any real gangsters here in Perth, but let's hope the wanna-be villains don't try and cash in on the act. Beware of black suits weilding pony tails!!!

I wouldn't be so sure about there being no real life gangsters in Perth. You may well find a very close link between the Carlton Crew and Perth. I saw Jason Moran lunching at the Sorrento Restaurant in Northbridge around Christmas 1992 with a few Coffin Cheaters. You might also find that Fat Tony Mokbel copped a hiding from a few Perth hoods and Carl Williams associate Andrew Veniamin had to take him to hospital.

Just to clear things up a little.... Most of our gangsters who have actually been "bumped off", "rubbed out", "been given conrete boots" have lived and socialised in amongst the hoity toity late sipping sets in BRIIIIIIGHTON and Kew darling.... You might want to pick up a copy of "Shotgun City: Melbourne's Gangland Murders" by Paul Anderson as a reference or just a great gory read! xo J

Gangsters or protected species, without naming anybody, victorian goverment and police service has enough evidence on them to lock them up but with big payoffs from the big guns they walk around like they are untouchables, this aint a movie nor a script but REALITY, 27 KILLINGS, POLICE ARE TO SCARED TO ARREST AS THERE LAVISH LIFESTYLE PAYED BY THESE PEOPLE WOULD BE OVER WHATS THE POLICE ROLE"TO SERVE AND PROTECT" OR TO GLOAT AND COLLECT"

What can I say...Perth is rotting from the inside out. Human beings are dangerous..their greed is contagious. Monetary gain, expoloitation, how can we solve environmental problems when we are living in a pseudo world knowing the route of evil is apathy and fear. My fear was real until I couldnt be hurt and this peace gave me strength. Fear feeds the mentality of these bottom dwellers but no one wants to step up and the army grows and the deeds keep getting dirtier.

In reply to J's remark about "shotgun city" book.. That would actually have to be the biggest load of crap book currently released on the gangland killings. It's well known in Melbourne's underworld that the author published pages of fake and false information. Aswell as using informers and washed up junkies as information sources. Dont believe everything you read and see on tv my friend
